Hi Everybody,
I am new to your forum, but not to birds. I have had them all of my life. All different kinds.
Today I rescuesd a TAG who is supposedly almost 4 yrs old. His name is Timmey (catchy yuh?)
I am always amazed at what I find when I rescue an animal, but this one about takes the cake. I drove four hours to pick up this baby that was no longer wanted because the people now have a baby and he has become "cage aggressive". What do I find when I get there? These people live out in the middle of "no where" in a quanset hut type building, no heat (except by stove and none while they are at work) no windows, at least 2 dogs in the hut, one Miner Bird, a room full of all kinds of reptiles, sugar gliders and other animals. That was on the inside. Outside they had Sloths (yes, I said Sloths), goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, several South American animals, turkeys, ........... All kept on the same acre or so of land with mud up to their knees. When I asked why they had all of the animals? Their reply was for their own pleasure.
If "cage aggression" is all this little one has, I will be suprised. We have a vet visit tomorrow morning. Oh yes, when he tried to "towel him" to put him in my container for the trip home, he pulled out almost all the flight feathers on one wing. His cage took me 2 hours of pressur washing to get all of the crud off of it.
I gave him warm "birdie bread" and some fresh fruit for dinner and did he eat.
