I adopted a seven month of Timneh grey named Tommy. He has been with us for about a month now. He has tons of personality, but sometimes it's a stretch trying to get him out of the cage.
He seems very content to sit on or on top of the cage and observe his surroundings. However evenings mostly he'll fly down from the cage and want to be picked up. Although I was told greys aren't into cuddling he does seem to like it occasionally usually if he is the person who instigated it.
I didn't get him for the purpose of talking, but it seems he's trying. He opens his mouth and makes the cutest little noises and it seems he's trying so hard to communicate.

Good luck with Tommy. It may take him a little time to get used to the family, home, etc. Sometimes they can be a bit shy. I do not have this problem. Lily is a yr ands 1/2 and always wants out as soon as she hears me stirring first thing in the morning or any time of the day. She would much rather be out than in. She is extremely cuddly and always wants to be near me for pets and rubs. She is ver affectionate and gives kisses also. She talks up a storm and sometimes I wonder when she will stop--hahaha She is the boss of the house for sure!! Hahaha I just love her to death. I know you and Tommy will bond and have a great relationship the more he gets to know you. Greys do tend to favor one person over another. Lily loves me ,but just tolerates my hubby. I am so happy that I am her favorite since she was a gift from hubby to me 2 Christmas' ago. \ Have fun and just take it slow...

As a general observation, greys are usually described as being "less cuddly" than other species but it varies with each individual bird. Many greys love being cuddled, others are more aloof, but they do often decide exactly when they want the cuddles! Tommy may well be trying to talk, it is sometimes said that they don't talk until they are about a year old but many start well before then and others much later, so one year is really just an average.

HI,
I have a timneh too, His name is Digger Kane. He's not talking either, But he's only 4 months old. He also makes the cutiest baby noises. Have heard him be really loud maybe twice.Other than that he's quite. My biggest problem with him is he's allways wanting to bite,I tell him "NO BITE". I know this will come with time too. He has nailed me acouple of times but not drawn and blood. whew! More of a pinch than a bite.
I also have a 5 month seimese kitten in the hosue and I can't trust him around Digger at all. THe cats name is Ducky, so I expect Diggers first words to be "GET DOWN DUCKY! LOL
