Hi everybody! This is my first visit. I just bought my first bird, Kasey. She is an eight month old African Grey. I just got her Saturday (2-11) and she became ill on monday. I took her to a specialist on Tuesday and she is very sick! They said she has had a bacterial infection for several months! Which means the man that sold her to me did not give her the proper care she needed and he had my husband and I convinced she was healthy. She was hospitilized on Thursday and she might get to come home tomorrow. I have never been a bird person and I don't know as much as I probably should. I just know that Kasey stole my heart on day one and I will do anything to give her the best life I can. Any advise or help you can give me would be appreciated! Thanks! Ashley and Kasey

Hello Ashley and Kasey I am sorry to hear this. Birds usually hide illness and it isn't always apparent until they are very ill so she may have seemed healthy. Hopefully now that this infection has been discovered she will be getting the treatment she needs. Please let us know when she comes home.

Kasey is lucky to have been bought by such a loving family!! I'm glad you took her to a specialist right away!!! Everyone on this forum just loves greys so much, we get very concerned when one of our "little babies" become ill, sometimes the owners don't let us know the outcome....please keep us posted Ashley!!!!!
