"The male Congo african gray parrot usually is darker on the wings and has red feathers around the vent. " Jane, you have a female and male parrots, is that true? Koko have red feathers around the vent.

I have read this theory about the vent feathers before and it certainly isn't true with mine because they both have them so I do not agree with this as a means of visually sexing a grey. I have also read about the males having darker wings. I don't agree with this either because there are colour variations in greys which are to do with their genetic origins and not their gender. I think the idea about the head shape is true but the eye shape is more difficult because their eyes change shape depending on what they are doing, where they are looking etc.
