I would like to ask , at what age do Greys start to mimic? My grey (Tiko) is 4 months old and although he makes some noises mostly whistling he is quite most of the times. Is this a normal behaviour?
Thank you

They can start at any time from a few months to over a year. Four months is quite young, the average is around a year. They can be quite shy and will take their time so just keep talking to him.

Hi Shaky,
Joshua, who is 15 now, didn't start to speak until he was nearly two years old. Now I can't stop him! He speaks a mixture of English and gibberish in ever-mutating forms. Yours will speak in his own good time. You'll start to notice him attempting to imitate words and sounds, and they'll sound not quite right for a while, then suddenly he'll get it.
One of the firsts words Josh learned was "toast", and he'd go, "Toe, toe, toe, toe, toe" for minutes at a time, until eventually he came out with "toast". He's still the same, he starts a word and tries it out for a while before he gets it, but once he's got it he plays games with it and mixes it up with other things. Some labels he understands and uses contextually, some just seem to amuse him.
It's fun waiting, but I sometimes think they're able to tease you, even at that age. So cute.
