Hello, I was just curious what you all feed your greys... I offer mine a wide veriety of fresh fruits and vegi's plus her weaning pellets but I feel that she wastes alot of the food especially the fruit... She used to eat alot of strawberries but now she doesnt seem to hardly touch the fruit.... I know she is just a baby still so I am sure her tastes will change...
I usually feed her "crazy Corn" or "beak appetite" mixed with frozen mixed vegi's along with the fruits and she eats that up pretty good.
I feel like she eats the same thing over and over again. So I guess my question to you all is what do you feed your babies in a week maybe... or how do you add variety? Need some idea... Thanks in advance! ;D

Mine are also quite wasteful and eat much the same on a daily basis. They have a special mix consisting of seeds, soya chunks, chillies, rice, barley, wheat, peas, corn, lentils, oat groats, garlic sticks, banana chips, dried fruit and linseed. To this I add dried vegetables and Pretty Bird pellets for African Greys. They also have Nutriberries, almonds and dried cranberries.
On the daily fresh food side they have cooked rice or pasta, vegetables, a slice of apple each, and some of whatever we are having that is suitable for them.
During the course of a week they may have salad greens such as chard and watercress, tomato, other fruit such as mango. Also mashed sweet potato, mashed potato or mashed carrot and swede mix. They might have some pureed vegetable baby food, a little cheese, scrambled egg, unsalted crackers or toast.

That's extremely helpful Jane. My TAG will (hopefully) be here in one week, and I'm still in a bit of a fog about nutrition. There's so much contradicting/unclear advice in the books, so it's nice to see what other people are feeding there greys and having success with.

Tapanga didn't want anything to do with his string beans for about a week but I would keep offering and this last week he decided he couldn't get enough of them... Still doesn't care for his pellets though.. Going to go for a more natural diet (like Jane's) with some pellets.. Shirley

Hi I have found that since I have my grey (about 4 weeks) she is not eating as much as she did when i brought her home first, like you say she wastes a lot of food too, but i have started to give her bananna with a syringe every morning and its kinda her lttle routine now she has it in the kitchen and has a whistle at the same time, then she has plenty of mixed seed and pellets in her cage all the time which she only picks the sunflower seed out of and doesnt eat the rest !! she loves blueberries and grapes, i have tried sweetpotatoe, peppers, figs, apricots, prunes, pears, apples , oranges pineapple all of these she had one lttle peck then left them in her bowl.....i will keep trying Sue
