We are due to get a new AG baby in a few weeks.
Our breeder has recommended pet insurance.
Can anyone recommend a good company with reasonable rates?
Any advice please?
Thanks.

Tweetiepie might be able to help; she uses one called Golden Valley Insurance. Another one is Exotic Direct ( www.exoticdirect.co.uk/ )which is advertised in the Parrot Society Magazine and if you are a member of The Parrot Society you can get the first month free. Jane

I did a little research on pet insurance in the US, and only found one place that insured birds (most only insure dogs and cats). Kind of disappointing.

You could look at this link www.soreeyes.co.uk/pet_insurance/ which lists a number of the pet insurance providers in the UK. I used a company called Aber-something-or-Other in Wales when I lived in London, which worked out well, but I can't remember the name as it was over 13 years ago! Insurance costs here in Ireland are in general much higher than they are in the UK, so I wouldn't advice using an Irish-based insurer. Try to find one who offers a low excess, as some of them can be quite rip-offy, I think. Let us know how you get on. Lidia

Did I hear my name being whistled !!
Hi Karen, as Jane kindly said, I use Golden Valley Insurance. They are very good. I had to put a claim in recently. The vet fees came to about £120 but with the insurance all you pay is £12.00 excess and the cheque came a week later after completing the claim form. Obvoiusly you have to find the dosh to start with. Golden Valley cover alot of things and seem to be a pretty good deal. The only thing they dont cover is treatment for feather plucking.
This is her e-mail address. The name is Sharron O'Gorman. Telephone: 01981 - 241062. She is based in Herts but you dont need to see her at all as it is all done by post. If u send her an e-mail asking for info, she will send you a pack. All she needs to know is what breed of bird you have and its age.
Any questions, dont hesitate to ask.
