Hahahahahahaha. ;D I grew chili peppers in my garden one year that had a drought. They were too hot to eat; even my radishes were smoking hot

The seeds are the hottest part but birds are immune to the substance which causes the heat so they can just have them as they are. Some parrot seed mixes have whole dried ones in. If you cut up fresh chilies it is best to wear gloves to protect your hands!

I give Joshua whole fresh hot red chillis, and and also the dried ones, he just takes them in his foot and chews away. You don't have to do much at all with them by way of preparation (except not kiss them afterwards). Lidia

I picked up one of the dried ones once and even though I washed my hands carefully afterwards, I then rubbed my eye and did I know about it! Jane

LOL that's well funny!!! Silver loves chillies and anything spicy actually. Can they taste the spice at all? It always amazes me the stuff they love! Also, I was wondering about temperature - Silver doesn't seem to care how hot something is - she goes mad if I'm getting something out of the oven and don;t give her some to taste straight away! Should I avoid hot food? ;D

Steph, Don't give her something really hot, she could easily burn her tongue or even her foot if she's holding it that way. Let the little cheeky monkey wait until you're sure it's safe. Lidia

Parrots don't have as many taste buds as humans, hundreds rather than thousands, so they are not as sensitive to taste as we are but they can taste.
I don't give mine very hot (temperature) food because I would be worried about crop burn, even in an adult bird, but I have heard of them liking red hot food straight from the oven.
