Hello everyone, Gypsy is 6 months and we've had her since she was 14wks. Upto now shes been fantastic but lately shes started plucking her feathers in one particular place and biting all the time. We always leave the tv on when we are out and she gets loads of cuddles. But its not much fun getting her out at the moment she just constantly bites. If your hand isnt in reach she'll bite whatever is! We make her step up each time but she just flies off so she doesnt have to. She such a minx!
Please Help!!! Hilary

Plucking has various causes so it is not easy to say why she might be doing it. It could be a problem with a feather follicle if she is only plucking in one particular place. Keep the humidity levels up and spray her, because a dry atmosphere can cause the skin to be dry and itchy. It might be a good idea to take her to the vet to check it isn't something physical. The plucking and biting could be connected if something is irritating her.

We do spray her but she goes crazy she hates it. I never thought it could be the atmosphere, we do have the heating on quite alot. Thanks Jane I will take her to the vet

It sounds like the "trying to dominat you" has arrived. This could be why she is biting.

Hi Jane & Preston, Just thought I'd let u know I took Gypsy to the vet today She gave her a thorough check up and it turns out that the area on her chest where shes plucking is all bruised. She has had a painkilling injection and Ive to take her back on friday for another. The good news is since she had her painkiller shes back to normal she hasnt bit anyone!

Well that confirms my suggestion that the two were related then! Poor Gypsy, hope she is okay again soon.

awesome call Jane ;D It just reminds me of the fact that something is wrong if your Grey changes over night. Glad there is a fix for Gypsy.
