Hi all Ok my baby is now 8 weeks old, I have tried this potty training story. Which of course will help in the future? What I would like to know is when do you start the potty training. I tried a few times already but he just don’t seem to like the idea. I use toilet paper folded up, and each time I see him wiggling back and starting to crouch I move him onto the toilet paper. He then does not want to go at all. He waits a few minutes and moves off the paper, and starts the wiggling thing. If I move him back on he won’t go. I felt sorry for him and removed the toilet paper and he then went on the towel. I don’t mind this to much at the moment, but I don’t want him thinking at a towel is a place for him to go on. Oh I phrase him each time I put him on the toilet paper. Any suggestions

It might actually be easier when he can perch. At the moment he may be getting a bit confused about the fact that you want him to go on the toilet paper but not the towel. Also, I think he is getting distracted when you move him and that is why he stops. Wait until he actually goes and say the chosen word or words, rather than moving him, so that he clearly understands the connection. Once this is clear in his mind it is easier to teach him where he is to go.

Ok I will try that, you mentioned Perching, when do they learn to stand by them selves. I let him stand on my hand every night, but he always seems to lean forward, and holds on with his beck. He has a ladder and a perch in his cage, and has only progressed to the first step of his ladder

Yes he is too young to perch yet. It will be a gradual thing but he should be perching by around 12 weeks.
