It would be nice, but Pete would chew it up in days. Actually I have never seen one so I can't say how strong they are. Greys will find the weak spot and shread it.

I have heard about them but I am wondering about heat build up and I also think they would be difficult to keep clean because the acrylic would attract the dust a lot more.

I did a google search on bird cages and that's where I found the web site! I have seen them on ebay too!

I have had a better look now. They do look lovely but it seems that the bird wouldn't be able to climb around. Also, as I said in my earlier reply I think the dust would very soon build up on the surfaces. I once had a normal cage and I put a large panel of acrylic on the back and front to try to keep the mess down but it was counter productive really because I was having to wipe it down so often, otherwise the parrots disappeared behind a haze of dust!

This site has some info about cage materials. www.forthebirdsdvm.com/cagemade.htm If you scroll down there is a paragraph on acrylic cages. The advantages seem to be debris containment. The disadvantages seem to be air quality and ventilation issues and overheating. Jane

Just a thought from a newbie. I’m not the biggest fan of keeping a Parrot cooped up in a cage all day long. Viewing the world through bars is not my idea of a fun-filled life. But to add insult to injury, how about an invisible wall where nothing but freedom exists to the naked eye, but in reality a hopeless futility of ever attaining such freedom… day after day after day. I’d prefer bars for my cell please…

I guess I'm kinda feeling that way too,Too bad they couldn't come up with a way to make a cage with 2 sides bars and the other 2 acrylic! [glow=red,2,300]SHARON[/glow]

Hi Scotty, How profetic your post is. This is exactaly the forum where we learn to keep Greys free, safe , and healthy. This unfortunatly includes a cage for times we can't be here. I pulled a couple of post on this subject because I haddn't seen the subject cage.

Hi Preston, Didn’t mean to be prophetic. I totally agree that there are times where your Grey One must be held put. Just not a fan of it. With freedom of the cage comes responsibility, and responsibility can be difficult. I do know someone that keeps his bird on an elaborate wood stand all day long, even when their gone. No problems to this point, doubt if I could handled it. That bird must really likes his stand.;D Hi Sharon, Check this sight out…<br>http://www.cagesbydesign.com/cages/specials_bird.asp Pretty much what your talking about I think? A bit to pricey for this Feathered Friend, though. Cheers!
