I am home today with a lousy cold and have been quiet all day. No TV, radio, motion or anything. Just quiet. Would you believe that ALL the birds have been quiet as church mice. I am used to all kinds of sound from them. Form talking to vocalizing screams. Not one sound. Even the dogs and cats are quiet. Do you think they understand that I need PEACE? I have never experienced this type of mood in our house before. Granted the weather is gray but warm and no windows are open, which for me is very unusual.

I think our birds and animals know when we are feeling bad. I myself was home 2 weeks ago. Feeling lousy myself. My house has never been silent with 3 birds, 2 cats, and a dog, esp my rainbow lorikeet. But when i was home for a week at the beginning feeling really bad they were all quiet and Jack my CAG just wanted to sit on my chest and preen my gotee.

Yes they pick things up from you, that is why they pick up on stress and nervousness as well. Birds in particular seem to pick up on anything which might affect the flock as a whole; the illness of one flock member could have a negative influence on them all and therefore is concerning to them.

I think they do pick things up from us, I have been quite ill and in bed, hubby brought marley up to me and after a little while, he got under the quilt and snuggled into me and we went to sleep together.
It was lovely, i'm waiting for hubby to have a go, about having another man in my bed, HE HE HE ;D
