I have my grey for 3 weeks. His age is around 2yrs(Not sure). But I'm curious about his behaviour. Most of the day instead of sitting on the perch he hangs from the cagetop keeping his head downwards. And remains in this pose for hours. Some times he keeps his head in such a way which looked like he is doing a very difficult yoga.Infact these poses are not very easy for him also.He has to work for 10/15 mins to take that pose. And after taking it he keeps that pose for hours. He doesnt move for 30/45 mins after reaching that pose.Sometimes he scratches the bottom of the cage with his nails.I want to know what he is doing? Are these activities normal. Please, Please and Please help.

It might be because he is still a bit unsure of his new situation. Mitzi sometimes does this if there is something in the room she is worried about. Scratching on the floor of the cage is normal, it can mean he wants to come out but it is also normal behaviour for Greys to dig and forage on the floor. Mitzi also does it sometimes when she is out on the sofa.

That means it is normal. But it looks very odd when he takes those poses and close his eyes and keeps laying at the bottom of the cage or hanging at the top. When he takes those poses at the bottom of the cage it just takes away my breathe.Sometimes when I'm watching him from another room I have to rush to see whether he is ok or not.Because he doesnt move a bit for hours.

It is difficult to tell from your description. If he was nervous about something he wouldn't have his eyes closed, he would be more on the alert. Scratching on the floor is normal.
