Hello,
My 8 month old Timneh has been scrathing his neck a lot lately. Also I notice dandriff. Now he seems like he may be pulling out some down feathers under his wings.
He just got back from the vet about 2 weeks ago where they tested him for everything known to man and said he was healthy except he does have Aspergillosis, which they gave us medication for and he has been taking twice daily since.
Anyway, I figured this must be just dry skin so I started bathing him more often using the Canopy Bath Time as suggested in this forum. His dandriff seems gone now but he still seems to be pulling out some of his down feathers. No bare spots that I have noticed but he's kinda raggedy looking under his wing on one side. Is this normal for him to do?
We're kinda new at this! Thanks a lot!

Down feather plucking is normal, and NO peanuts as they carry the fungus that causes his affliction.
EDIT: Peanuts in the shell I ment, without the shell is fine. Sorry.

They can look a bit like that underneath the wings but it is normal to lose down on a daily basis and come up from a preen with a piece of down in the beak. He might also be starting a molt which is irritating him and leading him to scratch round his neck. The dandruff is, as you say, most likely due to dry skin, especially as the Bath Time has improved it. Please keep us updated about the aspergillosis.
