Suddenly a week ago, like someone threw a switch, our 3 year old(next March) in one day turned from affectonate/playful with daddy to "who are you" and runs the other way. She is ok with mommy, who she will come to, but now acts afraid of daddy & won't let him approach(though seems to tease a little from a distance). Can anyone explain this behavior or let us know whether it is transitory, and whether there is a proper way to react to this? Thanks much from puzzled parents.

Some Greys will change their behaviour towards a person, especially if it was the favourite person, at this sort of age and it is thought to be related to the time in the wild when they would be leaving the family group. However, because you said it was very sudden, it could be related to something you have changed about your appearance (hair, glasses etc.) or something you are wearing to which she has taken a dislike.

Thanks for this insight. Nothing I know of changed at all, but before she did I had been forcing her into her cage at nite. Maybe that had something to do with it, as I can think of nothing else except something psychological or hormonal going on. What I am doing now is bribing her with her favorite treats, to the point where she will now approach to grab one out of my hand, and just today I got her briefly to step up on one hand while I gave her the treat with the other. Maybe I should continue this tactic, and see if I can get the relationship back to where it was?
