I bought Tapanga the kind of perch that helps to trim his nails problem is he hates it and wont get on it , I have put him on it a few times but he climbs right off, it can't be the color of it because it's the same color of my curtains which he is always trying to grab and play with ... I have it Attached to the out side of his cage being he's out playing on his cage most the day but he just avoids getting on it . He will climb all around it but not get on it.... Thanks, Shirley

How long have you had it? Mitzi has always hated new perches, even one which was almost exactly the same as the one it replaced but she always comes round in the end. Have you tried bribing him with a treat if he will go on it, that is what I usually do. I also have wrist rattles on the nail trimming perches as they love to play with them.

It is eerie how they can tell when new objects are introduced into their cages even if the difference is so slight.
Trinie did exactly the same thing as Tapanga is doing. What I did was, I placed one of the perches he is used to at the back of the cage and the one for nails at the front where the seed and water bowls are so he had to step on it whenever he wanted something to eat and drink. He was fine by the next day or two.

There are a few different kinds of perches that say the help trim nails. What kind is it? Have you felt it to see if it has any sharp points or such??
