I am trying to figure out if Jake is acting normal or what. I feel bad because I don't know what he wants.
He likes to sit on my chest and chirp. He rubs his beak on my face and shirt and then opens his beak wide and stretches his neck up. Is this because he isn't fully weaned? He get formula in a bowl twice a day.
Any advice or opinons??

They will rub their beaks on us or our clothes, it is normal behaviour either to clean it or just to explore as the beak is used to examine and test things. They also do an exaggerated type of yawn (as well as normal yawning) from time to time, where the beak is opened wide and the neck stretched up but there doesn't seem to be any real opinion as to what this is for. Both mine do it sometimes.

Trinie does the same, rubs his beak whenever he is close enough or is being held. If he wants me to scratch his head or neck and I ignore him, he will pull on my shirt or smack his beak on my arm to get my attention. Surprisingly, at times it can give quite a string. He also "licks" my finger (sticks his tongue to the side and between his beak to touch my skin) whenever I play with his beak. I don't know what it means but I am only guessing that since they have a good sense of taste, he is testing for my scent or for the body salt/oil.

Thanks. It makes me feel better to know he's normal. I guess I am just paranoid.

Jake sounds adorable, and the rubbing and yawning is normal behaviour. Very cute indeed! Lidia

I was told this clingging to me will pass with time. He sits next to me all day long and listens to every word. But at night he wants to sit on my chest and do his rubbing and calm chirping to me. Eventually he falls asleep this way. I think he is spoiled rotten, but that's just me. LOL
Last night he figured out how to say UH-OH when he drops something or flaps his wings.
