Hi, I have my grey 3 weeks now and we love her to bits, she is out with us most of the time and will go back into her cage when we put her in with no protest, but in the last few days she has started to scratch at the bottom of her cage , trying to get out, I dont want to let her out when she does this as she may think this is the reward for her behaviour, so whats the best way to get her out of this habit while she is still very young, dont get me wrong i love her being out but their are times for her own safety etc she needs to be in her cage etc... Any ideas ? the constant scratching is very annoying Toys dont seem to impress her when she is doing this she just wants out Suzanne

Su,
This 'scratching' at the bottom of the cage is a natural behaviour. Perhaps she is trying to remind herself of what it was like when she was in the nest with her mother.
She's far too young to be exhibiting nesting behaviour herself, but she seems to displaying a sort of copying or 'remembering' behaviour.
She's not actually trying to dig her way out, though! You might give her some paper to shred in a different corner so she doesn't think of scratching. Otherwise, she might simply get bored with this when it avails her nothing.

This is completley normal- it's called "digging" . In the wild, they spend more time on the ground, as opposed to trees, digging around for things to eat-
