Manzi is out of his cage for atleast 5 hours a day, on weekends he's out all day. I have a play stand for him and he likes it, but he is very active and will play on it for maybe 15-30 minutes before he is bored and jumps off and walks around the house. He is three months old and his potty training is going slower than I had hoped. I don't have carpet so it is easy to clean his messes but I would be nice if I didn't have to follow him all around. I was wondering do your(anyone) parrots usually play in one spot, or are they very curious, like Manzi, and always wander around getting into trouble? I guess it won't be a problem when he is potty trained because then he can wander around but go back to his play stand when he has to go. How would one go about teaching a parrot to stay in one place (i.e. playstand)? And how do I teach him to go back to his cage when he can't really climb up it because of the seed catcher? Is he supposed to fly back to it? Thanks

I am having the same dilemma for my 6 month old CAG. I have decided to order a playgym from www.waynesparrotstuff.com. Everywhere I look, I hear and read good things about them. I know they are pricey, but if they do what Wayne promises (make my CAG so happy she will not want to get off the gym and maybe allow her to be cage free) and make my baby happy, then it will be well worth it. My gym is suppose to arrive tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes. Has anyone else had experience with one of Wayne's bottlebrush gyms?

Well as promised, I am writing regarding my baby's new playgym. The workmanship was excellent and I was surprised as to the size of this thing. It is much bigger than what it looks like on the website. What can I say...after 1 day the gym has done everything the man's website said it would. Baby Freddie spent 9 hours on the gym and never once jumped off. She was off for maybe a total of 5 minutes the entire day and that was b/c we took her off. She absolutely loved the bottlebrush. She spent most of her day chewing it up . I cannot speak about the longevity of this playgym, but what I can say is so far so good . I couldn't be happier (and neither can Freddie I think). She was so happy, she actually was giving me the evil eye when it was time to go to bed and I took her off the gym and put her back in her cage. Here is a link to pictures of Freddie on her new gym: pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sanpan@ameritech.net/album?.dir=/60ef&.src=ph&.tok=phgoOoDB2Pc_WmW7 (cut and paste)

That is good news. The link you posted didn't work so I put http:// in front of it and saw the photos. Very nice. However, when I then copied the complete link and tested it, it said the page was unavailable. Jane

I'm not sure why the link isn't working for you. Everytime I cut and paste it it works??? I think I fixed it. It should work now. It works for me. pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sanpan@ameritech.net/album?.dir=/60ef&.src=ph&.tok=phgoOoDB2Pc_WmW7Maybe it was just a yahoo problem? I dunno? Also, if you get it working, you can click on the link to go back to sanpan@ameritech.net's photos at the very top where you will get to look at another album which has photos documenting baby Freddie's life from the day after we brought her home .

Now that I have seen your pictures I will tell you that my mom purchased a playstand for her Caique from that guy... He does great work, he builds/designs them specially for each breed of bird. I would recommend him!

Really beautiful bird. The bathroom sink wasn't working. Our Cag has learned to go in the top from the top of the shower stall. It's easier to clean up in the tub, than on the carpet.

jake will only play in the lounge...she tends to sit on the back of the couch but shes just too nervous too explore new things! We bought her a play stand and left it in her view for a few days to get used to it...that was in august and she stil wont go near it! id love to get her one of those play gyms but im afraid it would just be a waste of money!

Maybe you could try putting one of those foraging toys with her favorite treats in it on the playstand !! It might be enough to entice her to check it out !! I gotta mention here that Spookyhurst and I had a discussion about some/most of the playstands you see, that aren't really "play"stands. Most of them are nothing but a perch on a bar or tree like object. Very few of them had anything of interest attached to them, (some don't even have hangers), to make the parrot want to go and stay and play !!! The one I bought had different toys and chains and rope doodads and Spookyhurst made hers and also added enough hooks for toys to keep Nikko busy.
