Hello, somebody please help me with this.
My Congo grey laid eggs (infertile) for the first time last May.
I did not know what to do with them, so, as advised by a friend of mine, I let her hold them for a month or so, and then I took them all from her at once, when she seemed to have lost interests in them.
This seemed to be working for a while, but soon she started holding her little white, round ceramic plate, just like she was doing with her eggs. Then she abandoned it, and started holding a white plastic cup she was using for drinking.
She stays almost all day in the cage, except for mealtime and playtime - she comes out to play with her favorite toys for about ten minutes or so, and hurries back into the cage to look after her <baby>.
She repeats regurgitating, munching, swallowing, and bringing it up again, particularly right after meals. She makes chuckling sound to the cup, and sleeps holding it at night on the bottom of her cage.
Has my parrot gone mad for the loss of her eggs? Will this affect her health, should I stop her doing this?
Best Regards,

It is usually best to leave the eggs until she loses interest because if you take them sooner she may simply lay more and this is not good because it uses up a lot of calcium so I think you did the correct thing. I haven't come across the other behaviour before but sometimes if a Grey has got into a nesting behaviour she can be distracted out of it by rearranging her cage, providing new toys etc.

Also, If may add to Jane's reply. Is there a grate in the bottom of the cage? If a bird can make a nest in the bottom with the material you use to line it with, they will try to nest. I had a breading pair of Cockatiels that were like a factory. They were good parents, but we couldn't find good homes for them fast enough. A friend told us to pur a grate in the bottom annd they stopped. This may not apply to Greys, but it's a try.

Chakus Mom:
If you think your CAG has formed a companion bond with her bowl or any of her toys, you should remove them and replace them with something else. Especially if she's ever tried to mate with one of them. Also, shortening the day will sometimes help break a bird out of breeding mode. Thirteen or fourteen hours of sleep - if possible - is about right.

They may never breed because of paring up issues.

Thanks for the replies!
Her cage had no grate, so I tried one for a couple of days... I replaced the cup and the sourcer with new ones of different colors, then she turns the new cup over everytime I feed her with fresh water. It's a mess! She scatters all the food on the new sourcer, too. *sigh*
I've been trying to shorten the daylight, but there seems to be no change so far...she used to chirp a lot before she went to sleep, but these days she is very quiet.
Should I take her to a vet if this last longer?
