Darwin has begun to bite. She hasn't done this since I first got her, almost a year ago. I believe this is merely aggressive behaviour to establish rank, as she is maturing now. The problem is, while a Grey has the feathers to protect from such bites, my skin does not! How do I get her to stop? I've tried laddering, which is to make her "ladder" from one hand to another for a bit, after biting, to reestablish my position as flock leader, but that jest makes her bite again. I've also noticed that she most often bites my right hand, I think she prefers the left. Help, please!

Are they not intelligent creatures? Lol.... Trinie did that for a while, where he loved my left hand and hated my right. I corrected this by switching hands, everything I did with my left hand I did with my right and vice versa with the left. I now interchange activities with both hands.
You may want to try this to stop his biting. Whenever Darwin bites you, drop your hand that he is sitting on a couple of inches to throw his balance off and say very firmly (do not raise your voice) "No".

She probably bites your right hand because that is the one you (probably) most often use to move her/take her up for laddering, etc.
You might try giving her the evil eye if she nips you. Because greys are so attuned to eye contact, this might well help.

What do you do if they go into attack mode. Sweetie, is normally very sweet but some evening when I first take her out she wants to bit everything (goes a bit mad), but after a few NO's she calms down. She then sits on my shoulder or lap and just looks at me with a cocked head. (more of a look of disgust)
