O boy, my Pete..... I have to share this with you, because it ruined my day today. I pulled up blinds in his room, which he absolutely hates >:(and when he kept screaming at me I asked him : What? He ran and bit my lip so bad, I was even late to work , because I could not stop the bleeding. Isn't he something. His mood changes so badly, I really have a feeling he is a female , hahahha. that is a joke.... one day he gives me billion kisses and today? ??

Oh that must have been painful. When they bite they can bite hard. I have a scar on my arm from where Mitzi bit me after she panicked when I was trying to introduce her to a new cage several years ago.
Mitzi is much more moody than Monty. Monty is a very docile Grey.

You do have to read the mood and that one was on the "Silver Screen". The only suggestion I have is speak firmly as to why you are opening the blinds to let him know he has no say in the matter. He may soon ask for them to be opened. Remember: they will try to reach dominance over you.

This is very common behaviour and it has come up many times on the forum so don't feel you are alone. They often decide to really like one person and attack the other. Try to watch for the body language which will indicate when she is likely to bite, this includes puffing up, flaring the eyes, and looking directly at you while doing these things. Also, try to be confident around her because if she thinks you are nervous of her she will pick it up.

Hello, I had exactly the same problem with Silver. I am now very firm with her and we play stare out sometimes! I learned to be patient and stop trying to handle Silver. She now follows me all round the house and chats to me all day long. She sometimes flies over and sits next to me or on my leg but she goes to my husband for cuddles! She lets me tickle her feet now. If I want to pick her up I use a cushion for her to climb on to. I used to be able to pick her up and stroke her back - I don;t know what makes them change thier mind! But you are definitely not on your own. Just be patient and firm.x

My sweetie bite me "bad" for the first time on Sat. I took her outside and she was walking/playing on the grass. My cat jumped over the wall so I bent down to get her and she bit me so hard on the arm it drew blood. I don't know if I or the cat gave her a fright, but geessss.... it was painful. Well we made friends again, and she is back to loving me as normal chow

Yowtch, I bet that hurt! It does happen from time to time though, I doubt there's a single parroteer here who doesn't have the odd scar from their beloved T-Rex. Lidia

The best thing to do after a bite is to put a bag of frozen peas on it as parrot bites can produce a surprising amount of bruising. Mitzi once chomped down hard on my wrist when I was on the phone and the bruise went halfway up my arm. She is very jealous of the phone, I had her on my hand and I had just said how good she was being. My mistake!

Well since she bit me I tell her NO if it looks like she want to take a bit from any one and she then gives me a look, and does her favorite trick (head down and asks for a scratch on her head). I think she knows its wrong, and I tell her "thats not a pretty girl", She will then snuggle up into my heck and stays there for a bit, then shes off again. She can be sooooo cute. You can never stay cross with them for long Karen

Here's a clue. WILD ANIMAL! They can be trained but not domesticated. Leave the bird alone except for customary care and it's personality will develope as it finds a place for you in the flock. You may not be the favorite person but it will interact with you in the parameter set by it. Theres where the fun is; right there inside the rules. Pete enjoys one friend that stops over, you may think he is his bird by the actions. When he leaves, all Pete says is "where's Skip" for a day or two. Play the personality, after all you don't own that bird; you have him in a cage. Pete will tell me if he wants to be handled, and thats when I do it. My avitar is of "Fire Bird" he lies on his left side and whistles sirens. He pretty much does what I tell him to do, and I wouldn't trade that for all of the step-ups he refuses to do. Look, Listen , and Learn; they are amazingly intellegent, but it has to be nutured.
