Hi again. Well I have another question. My new Sweetie is now scratching the corner of her cage, and even if I talk to her or stroke her she persists. I can’t have the cage open all day as I’m at work and when I get home I have to do a few things first, before I can let her out and give her all my attention. I think it’s because she wants attention, but how do I stop her from scratching. I do understand that you can teach them, has any one got any info for me. She is now 11 weeks old and starting to fly. I also don’t want to let her out of her cage until I am there as my last baby fly away and its still hurts bittly. One more question, she is starting to eat seed, but does not want any other interesting food I give here. She still has her baby food in the mornings and evening, and during the day I leave her carrots, sweet peas and apples but she has not touched any of this. Should I be concerned? Also what other food can I start getting her interested on? Thanks again ;D TEXT

Scratching in the corner of the cage is normal behaviour, it is something babies seem to do and in fact Mitzi still does it sometimes when she is out on the sofa. Put a soft toy in for her. Getting them to eat a variety of food is always difficult but keep offering it to her. Try giving her the vegetables and fruit while you are eating because they usually want whatever you are eating. She might be keener if you hand feed them, in little pieces. Keep offering her a variety of vegetables and fruit, you might have to try different ways of cutting them up, mashing them or hanging them in the cage.

Yes, avoid avocado, mushrooms, onions, raw potatoes, rhubarb. (Banana is okay.) Also avoid salty foods and foods that are high in fat.
