Hello Everyone,
Today Cochi has displayed a new behaviour. I got him out of his cage this morning for breakfast and put him on his perch on the playgym. He lifted his wings slightly with feathers fluffed, and he started bobbing his head up and down. Then he jumped onto my shoulder, crawled across the front of my shirt, and rolled over onto his back. If I hadn't caught him in my hand I think he would have went straight to the floor. Later, as I greeted him he jumped onto my shoulder and wanted to stay with me. I play with him all of the time, he is almost never in his cage except for bedtime. He also started regurgitating his food for me. What does this mean??
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi Laura,
Joshua does exactly the same thing. Also, if he is feeling particularly playful, he rolls down my chest (knowing I will catch him), lays upside down in my hands, and then puts his head under the neckline of my teeshirt, and gradually inches his way completely under the shirt, then pops his head out. It's like the scene in Alien except no blood or gore.
The more excited he becomes the more he will try to regurgitate. I do what Jane described elsewhere in this forum, that is, attempt to distract him when he gets to the point of regurgitating.
But he's adorable when he's in this mood. I am certain Cochi is, too. He likes to be cuddled, stroked, kissed, etc, when he is like this.
Enjoy!

Lidia,
Thanks for the info! Cochi seems to be getting more and more playful, as his personality developes!! He was 5 months old on May 1st! I am loving watching him grow, and watching him discover things for the first time! Like when he figured out how to hold things with his foot!! ;D

Laura,
My own experience with Joshua has been that he became more tactile and affectionate as he has got older. So, hopefully, Cochi will also go the same way.
I am away from home at the moment and am having desperate parrot-missing pangs, so coming to this forum is a real relief. I love the photo you use of Cochi, his lovely shiny baby beak makes me smile.

Jane,
On the subject of regurgitation, is it alright if, when a bird starts to regurgitate for you, and you distract it, it swallows the food again? Or ought the bird be permitted to disgorge the food? Hadn't thought about it before, but the link Aadhil posted above was rather interesting.
