Hi!
Pearl and I are doing wonderful, she is so funny! She just learned the "wolf whistle" from my cockatiels and now she does it all the time. She's also added "Peek-a-boo," "I love you," and "thank you" to her repitoire. Still, as always, I have a question. First of all, I know what she's saying because I'm the one working with her all of the time, but her words (all except "hi" and the whistle) are pretty gurgly. Will she get better? I have read that she could just be "trying out" the new sounds before gaining confidence. I hope this is what she is doing, but just like a proud mommy I don't care if she never annunciates all that well. Also, I have had Pearl for about 1 month now, and I would really like to introduce her to my cockatiels, Lola and Petie. She has seen them and they have seen her, and they call to each other, but Lola and Petie have to stay in their cage when I take Pearl out, just because I am worried that she might be hostile and I would never want anything to happen to any of them. What would you recommend to introduce them and let them get acclimated? Thanks!

Yes she will get better and in fact she is doing very well as many don't even start to talk until they are older than Pearl, although Mitzi first said "hello" at 5 months. Repeat what she says to her to encourage her and help her.

I agree with jane, She will get much better. You can bring the 'tiels into sight at first to get them aquainted.

She is just learning and that is what I called "baby talk". Lily did that for awhile and now she doesn't do it at all and I understand everything she says. She learns more words and sounds ,whistles, etc daily. They are too funny!!! She started really picking things up at a year and now she does not stop chatting! haha

Even now, when Joshua is pushing sixteen (15 June 2005), he still has to practice some words before he says them the way I say them.
Recently I began to call him Monkey Boy when he does something silly, and he has now begun to respond with keyboy. It takes a while to get it right, but then they all learn at different rates.
I know a CAG who can repeat whole sentences after only one hearing, and you really have to be careful what you say in front of him!

How lucky you all are to have talking birds. Bella just seems too stubborn to talk.

Don't give up. They are individuals. and it may come to the fact; you can't shut him up.
