I just got the opportunity to adopt a rescued orange winged Amazon. His name is Pedro and I'm so excited. I have a new 4 month old kitten and am a little nervous about their introduction. If anyone could give me some advice I'd be grateful.
Thanks!

Congrats, how old is Pedro?
I would let pedro get settled in his new home before doing an introduction. Then I would not let the cat close to the bird and never leave the bird and the cat in the same room unattended.
I am sure Pedro will bring you lots of joy.

;D Pedro is 2 yrs old and already talking! His owner says to leave him in his cage for a couple of days when we bring him home before handling him. What do you think?
I want this to be as smooth of a transition for him as possible.

Leave him inside the cage, but not for any specified time. He will tell you when it is time (Andi wanted out the morning after she got here). Cat saliva is very bad for birds so keep that foremost in your mind. The cat wants none of that beak I asure you.

Thanks so much for the advice....keep it coming please!
I know I'm gonna need it! Can't wait to pick up my baby tomorrow night. I really want this to be a smooth transition for him.
I will post some pictures as soon as possible!
When we first met he sized me up right away. Liked my boyfriend alot and I was a little jealeous. But he warmed up to me and was giving me kisses before we left.

All I can add is: Make sure the cat can't either get atop the cage or stalk it from any level other than the floor, and the latter should not be allowed either.
Thanks Deneen, but your experience is as important. Soon Lulu9one1's advice on Cats VS Birds will be first hand which is invaluable.

Ok...here's an update... Pedro is doing great so far! The kitty was a little curious and I was worried for the first couple of days but now she's like ..ok, a bird so what... My boyfriend's little chihuahua is another story. She's very inquisitive and Pedro started growling at her the minute they first met. It was kinda funny actually. Have to watch her around him every minute though. He "gets her" but I think she doesn't know quite what to make of him! We'll just have to see. Thanks for all of the good advice and please keep it coming.

;D Teach Pedro to tell the cat to "Leave the room!" whenever he sees it. That's what I did with Zayn. He even called the cats (I had three at the time) by their proper names. It was funny 'cause he mimics my voice and I'm sure the cats thought I was yelling at them, even though I was in another room. I'll never forget the first time I heard him say that, followed shortly by a cat running away!
