We had something similar, but not so crazy, happen once. The birds were either starlings or grackels, and they filled the trees in the commons area behind our house. I'd never seen so many birds at one time. They didn't pick a favorite tree like the birds in the video though, they sat in all of them.

Red Cedars here can get infested with these little spiders which will kill the tree. My guess is that is what was of intrest to them. Millions of tiny spiders.
