Does anyone out there use simple green to clean cages? The bottle says it is non-toxic and biodefradable. I have been using it diluting it 1 part simple green to 10 parts water. I do use it full strngth on the grates but rinse it off outside. It is alot less than poop-off however I do not want sick birds either.

I went on their website this morning. Simple green has been used to clean birds that were exposed to oil spills. They also claim that Wild Bird Sanctuary uses simple green to clean their cages. However, until I can be assured 100%, I'll stick with poop-off.

I've used simple green for years and in vet clinics. Never had a problem.
I used it to clean out some fake plants in my aquarium and the odor stayed on the plants. Made my aquarium smell real nice for a couple of day. LOL Anywho, I keep discus fish (translate that to mean $$$$) with no ill effects.
Good product and safe.

You say that you are using it outside? I use bleach in my (adjustable mix) car sprayer outside, rince well and let dry, but I only have seven cages to do. ;D I say use what works best as long as it is outside and the resedue rinces. Oh and I don't reccomend 1500 Psi on a painted cage. Been there and have the T-Shirt.

Gee Preston...I can't imagine why 1500psi would be bad for a painted cage!!!! Geez man!!!! I would say 1500psi is a little overboard. You sound like a man who is always looking for "more power"!!! LMAO!

We have been using Simple Green for household cleaning for ages... it works well any pet stuff and has never made anyone in our home sick. When spraying it don't get too close; it is pretty hard to inhale; very strong smell. But it works GREAT on dried poop.
