I called the bird store Saturday and told them that my operation went well. They were happy to hear from me and told me about 2 caiques they got in. They are about a year old and were clutch mates. I didn't want to split them up so I bought both of them. I don't have names for them yet but I do have pictures. I got the birds and the cage for $1200.00 The one in the front is smaller and it's belly has orange mixed with the white. img206.imageshack.us/img206/479/img24101mk.jpgimg206.imageshack.us/img206/7872/img24115ay.jpg

Your new birds are really pretty. I don't know much about Caiques though. Are they talkers?? What does their "song" (voice), sound like Gees that's the same cage I bought for my tiel. Does it have a lock on it too

Nice set-up John. They are very striking birds, and kind of remind me of my Senegal. Where are they from? I'm not lazy just still have dial-up and a slow one at that.

Preston, I haven't done much research on them yet but I will let you know when I find out.
I joined a Caique forum and I fell in love with them. They hop around and are very playful.
They were asking $750.00 each and I was told they go for as much as $900.00 ea. I asked the store owner what he wanted for birds and a new cage, I couldn't pass them up for the price.
Nancy, I was told that they talk, I haven't heard them talk yet.

Thanks everyone,
Thanks for the information Jane, you are always so helpful.
Yes Patty I do have MBS bad, I think I got it from Traci, she is always talking about all the birds at the bird store.
I had been looking at the birds at the bird store for some time now. I thought about getting a Sun Conure but they are so noisey. They had some Senegal's at one time but they sold fast. They Caique's just fit what I was looking for, very playful and full of energy but not too loud.
Nancy, they make wonderful noises, sounds like I am in the rain forest.
I uncovered all the birds this morning and stated feeding them. My caiques are in my living room in the front of my house and my other birds are in my bird room in the back of my house. I let them all out and Sam started saying "hi birdie" which is unusual because he is always quiet.
Sam came walking into the kitchen and went to his favorite spot by the fridge. My caiques both came walking into the kitchen ti greet Sam, he looked at them like... what are you doing? I grabbed Sam and caged him and the other 2. They are so much fun an will fit nicely into my flock.

hey John,
i was just wondering did Lucky ever regrow his feathers or is he still plucking??

Patty, Lucky has been growing feathers, he does revert to plucking at times but not to bad. I think he will regrow feathers one day but it will take more time for him to get settled. I have had him for 4 months and he is still nervous around everyone. He is happy and gets along with my other birds. My vet said to give him 6 months to regrow feathers and if he isn't feathered to bring him for another checkup.
Thanks for asking, John

Congratulations on the Caique's!! They are wonderful little birds with so much personality!! I was going to get a white bellied Caique, but decided on a Grey instead because that is what I really wanted. I'm sure the Caique's will come later . Oh yeah, what is MBS?

MBS = Multiple Bird Syndrome It is highly contagious and is transferred well over the internet. It causes you to buy birds for no good reason at all. You only have to read about another species you don't already have to be inflicted with the syndrome. And pictures make it even worse. There is no known cure and it can strike at any time. If you are known to suffer any symptoms you should stay away from bird stores and the like. Seek comfort from others that suffer from MBS on bird forums such as this one.
