We just got a couple of budgies today. We were under the impression that they could have the same types of fruits and veggies as greys. However the lady at the pet store told us that they should only be given fruits and veggies as a treat no more than once a week or so. Well my book says that greens are an important part of their diet. Anyway, my question is, what fruits and veggies are a good idea, and how often can they have them? Thanks for any help Aaron

In addition to Loki, my wife and I have three budgies. They are picky when it comes to new foods, especially when they are used to seed. However, I've found that fresh sprouts, broccoli (attached to the cage), carrots (attached), and dark lettuce always tickle their fancy.
We've tried and failed to convert them to a pelleted diet (Harrison's), but they'll eat their broccoli.
