I know I have said no more birds but ... I heard about a Amazon that a lady is giving away cage and all. He is a plucker and I am told he is mean. I haven't seen the bird and I have yet to call the lady because I know I will take the bird home with me. I think I will call her tomorrow and at least get the rest of the story. I may even go over to see the bird and try to handle him. I was told that Sam was mean to his previous owner but he is a sweetheart, he does nip at times but I just have to be firm with him and he does well. If I can handle the plucker without getting bit I may try to rehab him. I just cant help but to think this bird needs a good home. I was told he is wearing a collar and he has been to a vet, I am not sure why he became a plucker or how long he has been plucking. I will sleep on it and consider it tomorrow.

I got more info from the lady who told me about the bird. She said the lady who has him now took him in to rehab him as well and has not made any progress with him. She has had him for some time now and is looking for someone who has more experience with problem birds.

Update on Buster:
The guy that had Buster couldn't deal with him any more so I have him now. Buster has been nippy since breeding season started and the guy hasn't handled him as much so now he is worse. Buster has also been left to fly in a room and was never put in his cage. I am taking him in tomorrow to have his wings clipped and he will be on the same sleeping schedule as my other birds. I think he will be less aggressive with proper care.

Sorry that Buster's new home didn't work out. I guess it takes a special person to deal with a special bird. It will all work out. Good Luck to both of you!

Hey Good luck with Buster.... I just adopted another sun this weekend that is baby #5 from a girl that has not lived far from me.... Vinny was adopted sometime ago from a Vet of Danielle's... He had both his legs broken and was mistreated so Danielle took him in for 2 years and was cared for by her and her mother. He is the cutest thing and very personable... I think Danielle was a little upset because he came right to me and was giving me kisses when I went to pick him up... She works full-time and goes to college and was not spending much time with him... I am like you and can not say no.... He was a little loud for the first couple days and now with Rosebud saying shut up, be quite and no screaming I think Vinny is actually listening because he has eliminate much of the screaming....

I took Buster to get his wings clipped today and he is a lot easier to handle now. I let him play on the play stand this afternoon and he spent some time with Lucky. I think they will become friends. Here is a pic of Buster and Lucky. img366.imageshack.us/img366/2457/img24418js.jpg

What a couple of cuties! Lucky is such a beautiful color, and that beak is something else.
Is Buster missing a toenail?

Buster has 1 toenail that grows up instead of down. He keeps it trimmed.
In the pic you can see the feathers Lucky is growing in on his legs and a few on his chest. Lucky has been very happy lately and has not beek plucking.
