I would also recommend a cockatiel as a great starter bird. I have two, one is 2 yrs old and one is 14 yrs old. They are definetely my overall favorite of the smaller birds (I also have lovebirds and parakeets). They are very interesting and loving birds and have big personalities. I had a friend that asked my opinion on a starter bird. I told them a cockatiel and that's what they ended up getting. They absolutely love her!

please, please, please don't spoil your Goffins...I have known 4 G2's and they all ended up serious head cases...too much cuddling during bappy days creates a frustrated adult bird. I know it's hard, especially when they love the cuddles so much when they are young...just make sure the time you spend now is time that you will be able to continue investing 5 years from now.
