Sometimes Abby bites her concrete perch. It seems like she could hurt herself, but she doesn't. She doesn't get anything off the perch.
Is she just 'working' her beak?

I think this is normal, mine do it as well. They like to exercise their beaks. Funnily enough though, mine have got two other perches they can actually eat and they haven't touched either of them! One is a calcium one and the other has clay with minerals in.

Of all of my recently-posted questions, this one is the one that bothered me the most. Thanks for the reassurance, Jane. Fortunately, she can't get anything off of it. We bought one of those calcium/sea shell perches. I specifically asked the shop if it was too weak for her, would she destroy it in a day and they said 'no way'. That thing lasted only as long as she was scared of it, which was about an hour. She never did stand on it, but she found a way to chew it and within 2 hours, it was quickly becoming sea-shell dust. When I returned it, (it wasn't cheap!) they were surprised at how fast she ground it up. I wasn't, really. When Abby goes to work on something, it's minutes, not hours or days.
