I get somewhat confused when I'm away from Joshua for any length of time and I say and do things that are meant for him. I was sitting on the terrace of the Kenyon Institute in Jerusalem earlier this year eating an apple. I automatically held it out and said "quack quack", which is Joshua's prompt to come and have a bite. The other people on the terrace looked ... rather alarmed ... can hardly blame them!

LOL
I do the same thing! I sometimes forget that I've already put Nikko to bed, and talk and cluck at an empty playgym. I've even gotten so bad that I sometimes respond to my dog and parents as if they were birds (it's a little embarrassing when you realize you've just clucked at human beings).
After my conure Jesse moved to his new home, it took a long time to get over my old habits with him. For instance, I always announced myself when I would come to my room, so as not to alarm him at my sudden presence. I think it took months before I finally quit saying, "Here I come Jesse" as I walked up the stairs. And 2 years later, when I would lay in bed half-asleep, I would hear a little noise and still think it was him. It was so depressing when I remembered I was in the room alone.
