Hi All! I'm Noel and I've recently gotten "back in the saddle" so to speak. I've had a variety of birds since I was 16, over 23 years now, but had the last 2.5 years off. No birds. Sad state of affairs, I know. But that was rectified last weekend when dear hubby brought home Duncan for me. He is a CG approximately 3 years. He's adorable! Very tame and seems to very well adjusted. He is adapting to my home well. I already have four two-legged kids, three cats, three dogs and a hairless hamster, oh and a ball python too. I didn't realize how empty the house was without a bird. But, I digress... I was happy to find your site and hope to get to know y'all. ::waving:: Noel (pronounced "No-L)

Welcome Noel, We hope you find the forum informative, but with your experience; a good place to tell about your bird.

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm just so glad to meet others with my passion. You'd be surprised, or maybe you wouldn't, how many of my friends just sorta shake their heads at me when I talk about birds. When I was growin up we had two cockatiels, a sun conure, a patagonian conure, a congo, and a blue front amazon.

That's funny, I just saw a decal that said, "African Greys are just like potato chips...nobody can have just one."
I like your Duncan Doodles nickname. I call my dog Spencer Doodles. My AGs nicknames are Nikker Beaker, Nikko Beako, and Tweeters.

I don't think I could cope with more than one! I have never been tempted to increase the flock, Joshua take a lot of attention and care. Maybe someday if I move to a palace-sized gaff ...

LOL....when I was younger and still living at home with my folks, we had bunches of birds. I remember many a Sunday evening, we'd be sitting in the living room and watching t.v. I had two birds and my pet rat, my mom had a bird or two and my dad had a bird. We would sit around eating unsalted, unbuttered popcorn and sharing with all our "friends." It was a great Sunday evening ritual.

My friends think I'm nuts too. We've got the grey, 2 conures, 6 tiels and 3 baby tiels which we're already falling in love with. I still want an Amazon. I think they run the house, not me.

They kind of just fit in as you aquire them, it's hard to explain. Get all of the croks, rinse them out, fill those with water; the rest with their food, and replace them. 20 minutes, twice a day; to hear a real flock interaction is priceless! I did say that I am blessed with the space to do that though.

I always notice how quiet other peoples houses are when there are no birds, I just love the sound of Monty and Mitzi.

My partner recently spent 4 days outside of our home and admitted that the silence was deafening. BoBo puts a smile on my face every morning...I don't know what I would do without his obnoxious, loud, irritating dialogue...it's just part of my life now and I would feel empty without it. hmmmmm...Im glad Im saying this stuff to a room full of bird lovers...my sanity is already seriously questionable
