Hey there I am really excited ;D about getting my bird.But the problem is, i am going to visit him for the first time soon and i wanted to know some points on what a healthy weaned baby grey should look like. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Daniel

Bright all black eyes, clean nares with no discharge, clean around the vent, fully feathered with no bald areas. There shouldn't be a lot of stress bars. Check there are no problems with the feet and nails. A healthy bird will be alert and responsive and interested in what is going on.

What are " stress bars " ?

They are horizontal lines across the feathers and if they are present on a lot of feathers in the same place on each feather they can indicate a period when there was a lack of nutrients or illness during the time that part of the feather was developing.

Hey, that's just like people. I had pneumonia once, and afterwards when my finger/toe nails grew out, every one of them had a crease across them.

Exactally, and during my hospital stay the medication given in addictive doses for chronic pain caused the same indicators on my nails.
