I've had parakeets, lovebirds, and a conure in the past and have always wanted a grey but the intial investment ($1500 +) in my area had always scared me away so I had just kept to reading about them and admiring in the local pet stores. So about a week and a half ago, my wife and I happened into a local pet store to look around and kill some time before going to the movies. We spotted an advertisement posted for 2 greys (timnehs), large cage, and accesories with an affordable price. To make a long story short, the owner still had them remarkably and we ended up getting! Although never DNA sexed, Tuscan is said to be a female and Gonzo is thought to be a male. Tuscan is rather tame and will step up and readily come out of her cage and sit on the door. Gonzo is a little more timid and won't step up or be touched, usually growls and bites or tries to get away. The owner we purchased them from said Gonzo was tortered by its prior owner and poked with a stick but has come a long way in not being as timid. Both have seemed to adjust well (more than I expected), are eating well, taking food out of our hands, seeming content while roosting on one leg much of the time, ect... Their owner hated to part with them but she just didn't have the time to give them anymore with her job and all. I'm very happy to be giving them a good home with patience, love, and care. Thanks to all in this forum for all the great tips and stories.

Hello and welcome to the forum. How very sad that Gonzo was tortured in the past. They are both fine looking birds.

They are both beautiful! I think it is wonderful that they have found there home in you and perhaps Gonzo will settle in and be willing to accept some human contact in time! Love and patience goes a long way! Congrats!
