Good day everyone, My name is Christine, I am 44 years, I currently owned a Youyou of Senegal male named Milo of 2.5 years who loves me to bits and have a good voice!!!. I have a wonderful husband named Randy with two beautiful daughters - Erica 20 yrs, Sarah 13 yrs and of course two dogs Lance 12 yrs (Shetland) and Pearl 3 yrs (X-shit-su). The new addition to the family will be an African Grey Congo around end of January. We went to see the baby 2 weeks ago and it was very exiting. For once I am exited about winter!!! ;D living on the south-sure of Montreal winter never ends!!! I need some suggestions for names because I don't know yet if it is going to be a male or a female ... If you have any idea let me know - it is a very big debate at home...and I usually don't win Thank you and I will keep in touch.

Hi and welcome to the group. I'm a newbie too and am getting my bird in December. I have to pick out a name too, such a big decision, maybe we should have a naming contest.

The way I chose my Congo African Grey's name was to look up African male names. I found "Kito" was Swahili for "Precious", a man's name. So that's why I chose it. He says his name in many ways and is hooking it onto every other phrase he knows. He talks all the time and amazes me daily. I have to keep a pen and paper at hand constantly to keep up with his new stuff every day. It's a Grey't world....Vicky

The one in he pictuer looks like a fine, gentle lil guy. You have chose well Grasshopper! A name is such a personal choice and needs to fit the personality or in my way an historical tie to parrots. Andi is after a ship because we all associate them with seafarers. If I had of bought a male it was going to be Skipper (nickname for Captain), Skip for short. Pete loved a friend I have nicknamed "Skip" and would wander his cage saying "where's skip" until I told him he was in jail. Skip visited to find his buddy excited yelling "Skips in jail"! It was so funny.

Hi everyone, the one that I think I will pick is the one in the middle... I have the first choice, the breeder thinks it's a male because the beak is wider... in two weeks time she will send a feather for sexing... Personally I prefer a male and if it is, it will be named Roscoe... if it is a female probably Ruby... I will let you guys know around Xmas... bye for now!

Isn't there also a way to see if its a male or female by looking at the eyes? !!!! I've once seen pictures of a male and a female, outlining the differences. It showed that the male had a thicker black eye outline line. and a little pointy tip pointing down towards the beak. The female did not have the pocket and the outline of the eye was remarkably thinner.
