I've been looking for a TAG for awhile now. I wanted to adopt, but had come to the conclusion that it could be a loonnnggg time before a TAG is available. So I settled on a breeder, but the TAGs aren't currently breeding, so it would probably be several months before I got one. I figured I had quite a lot of time to finish preparing for my bird. Well, last night I got the weekly email update on available birds at TARA (Tucson Avian Rescue and Adoption). Listed was a TAG named Nikko. I quickly emailed back and said I was interested, but I haven't taken the required parrot care class yet. TARA got back to me and said people who have taken the parrot class have priority, but they also asked me some questions about the kind of home I could provide. Again, I quickly emailed back. Well, apparantly I said the right things, because they said they will hold Nikko for me . My mom and I will drive to Tucson in October to take the all-day parrot care class, and hopefully, I'll be able to bring Nikko home at that time. I have my fingers crossed that all will go well. Now I need to get my butt in gear. I recently got a cage and a bunch of toy parts, but I need to build toys, and buy perches, and find a cage cover, and build a t-perch, and a bunch of other things. I'm very excited, but also a little scared about this giant new responsibility.

Not long now then. How old is Nikko?
