Hi all, Just brought my new baby CAG home last week . I named him Tapanga which means sweet and unpredictable in Africa. He's fourteen and a half weeks old and doing very well eating lots of different foods on his own.. I have two cages for him one small one is for sleeping the other is a large cage with all his toy's and goodies for eating and playing. I let him out of his play cage off and on during the day, he has his own room for this activity being I have two dogs that are inside allot . Was thinking of getting another cage medium size that could sit on the counter well he can be in the living room at times when the dogs are inside I don't want to use his bed time cage for this being I want him to know that cage means bed time... What do you thank ? I just want him to have different areas to check out and play in well he wont get bored. Right now he's afraid of going into the living room . What's the best way of getting him over this as well. Thanks bunch, Shirley

Hi Shirley, I think you've come up with an ingenious solution for a common problem! I've never heard of someone having so many cages in their house but, on the face of it, it seems like it will work well and will certainly give Tapanga security in terms of interaction with the dogs. Why not put the medium sized-cage you are thinking of acquiring in Tapanga's room since he is often out of the cage there, and put the large one with the toys, etc, in the living room so he can really feel comfortable there, as part of the family. Also, if the medium size cage were used, perhaps the dogs might be able to knock it off the counter, which would be terrifying for Tapanga (great name, btw). Welcome to the forum! Lidia

Welcome to the forum. There might be some specific thing in the living room that is frightening him rather than it being the room itself but if you just keep reassuring him he will be okay. They can get frightened of all sorts of things but they come round in time.
