What a beautiful bird! I just love the wide-eyed innocence of a baby. They have such soft loving faces. I'm hoping to have a name picked out for my grey BEFORE I pick it out (my poor conure was simply 'Bird' for the first six months due to my indecision). I've narrowed the list to something like 25 names .

hi spooky and lidia, well its getting worse, i can't decide, i was told by the breeder she was definatly a girl by her light grey colouring and head size but now i have read in books thay you cant be sure unless you dna test, so i have taken to callin her tootsie just in case we are wrong he he .......lol no really i cant decide ,everything i like some one says to me no not that etc... so for now she is still just birdie , she has taken a huge liking to blueberries, and everynight before bed she gets wrapped in her fleece blanket and goes asleep on my lap for a while, she keeps putting her beak on my fingers as if she were going to bite , but she is very gentle and doesnt bite just kinda nibbles and press's her tongue against my fingers ?? any one know what this is ? suzanne

Suzanne, It's just exploration. The tongue is sort of like an extra hand or finger for a parrot. It's perfectly normal behaviour and, in fact, a good sign since she (or he) is sure enough of you to explore. As to the baby's gender, well, I am STILL unsure about whether Joshua's a boy or a girl and I've had him almost sixteen years! Jane suggested a while ago that he looked quite female in a photo I posted and ever since then I've been seeing him as both male and female. Sometimes he is so male looking and squarely built, I have no doubt he is a male. Then again, when he is preening, he can look very female. I know I could get him sexed to find out but I don't think it would make any difference to either of us knowing his real gender. I suppose, I might have chosen a more androgynous sounding name if I had any doubt when I named him. Lidia

You could always choose something that would fit a boy or girl. Some of the ones I'm thinking of are Skyler (or Schuyler), Teagen, and Logan. I've seen all 3 on both boys and girls.

I chose Buddy as the name for my AG from a list of names on the net.I was deciding between a few names the others being Harley,Jazzy Rocky and Oscar. We have had him now since the 7th sept which was our Anniversary and he really loves my hubby.Whistles every time he comes into the room and he will only go on him,so he is his chosen one .

If it makes you feel any better nicola, greys can change their favorite person when they hit maturity.
