I am new here and just wanted to say hi. I got my CAG Merlin on Tuesday evening. I am taking him for a check up today to make sure all is well. He seems to be adjusting fine to the family. The one thing he does do is he goes to the bottom of the cage and scratches. Is that normal?

Welcome to the forum, Bolt and Merlin! Scratching at the bottom of the cage is normal foraging behaviour. In older birds, it can be nesting behaviour (or just foraging behaviour). You could try distracting him from it, but they all do it from time to time! Lidia

Welcome to the forum. Digging and scratching at the bottom of the cage is normal, especially when they are babies.

That's good. If he continues to do it... I'll try to get him to say "varoom, varoom" like he is starting a motorcycle.

LOL, that would be pretty funny. You could videotape it and send it to one of those animal home video shows. Merlin would be famous.
