HI all Well finally got a baby parrot. It took me a while as my last one flew away at 11 weeks old. We took him out side, as we did not know he could fly, and he just took off, after searching and searching we could not find him. It hearts me terribly But any way I now have a new baby, and she is really cute. I got her on Saturday. She is very vocal. Last night after feeding her she cuddled up to me and fell asleep. She also wants to be really close to me all the time, and if I leave the room she starts to moan, even though my husband and kids are in the room with her. Is this normal, I'm not complaining as I think this is really sweet. I never knew a Parrot could be this loving. ;D

Yes, this is normal baby bird behaviour. She is bonding to you and wants to be with you. We will look forward to the pictures!

I was wondering if you finished off hand rearing the new baby ? I thought they didn't fledge until they were 14 weeks old. best of luck by the way. I put a deposit down on a hahns macaw two weeks back but as the bird has two weeks of hand rearing left to be completed I decided to let the guy in the shop finish off the hand rearing as I dont know have experience to do it myself, incidentally he bred the bird himself so I trusted him to do he job. I'll be collecting him/her any day now. I am also awaing a baby Afican Grey, which will be ready in about three weeks :-) it's hard to sleep just thinking about them !! and they should keep each other company too :-)

I just picked out a baby as well. It is nine weeks old and it is fledging already. The breeder clipped its wings before shipping because it was flying all over the aviary. The didn't want it to land on the wrong bird's cage Anyway I am learning to hand feed it so I can bring it home soon. It will be on two feedings a day starting tomorrow, and I gave it the third feeding today with some help from the store owner. I can't wait to get her home. She is adorable and recognizes us when we are in the store already. SOOOOOO cute.
