;D Hi everybody
Due to circumstances of a dear "feathered friend" and me not giving up on him or his old owners, I'm now the proud owner of (Yebo) Gogo!!
Believe it or not, I've been feeding him since last year December...and of all places, the owners placed him in the hotel's bar. Gogo did not allow even the bartenders to feed him and I've been the only one he allowed to place my hands in his cage or pet him.
I've been pestering the owners on the healtrisk of second hand smoke and the alcohol the people were feeding him...and at long last with determination I got the couple to give him to me on Friday night. You won't believe the difference in the once "attacking" bird to the absolutely lovey he's now - enough fresh fruit, vegetables and the right food made a difference in the last 4days like you won't believe. All the things I've always said to him when feeding him is spilling from his "mouth" like "hello boy, how are you, kissie kiss" and he almost get histerical when I arrive home - leaning far over and voicing "scratch my head" yet another thing I've taught him.
;D and I proudly tell all my friends now that I'm officially a spinster ;D .....got the parrot and the black cat to proove it!

Hello He is certainly in a much better situation now. Sounds like he has fallen in love with you as well!

Thanks for that Jane. He's too beautiful for words and I will submit a photo in the next couple of days. I'm going to allow him by this weekend to get out of the cage inside the bedroom and to walk around a bit.
He kissed me on the mouth last night before I closed him up for the evening - that alone shown me just how much we got attached to each other by spending a meagre 20-30minutes 5 times a week together!

I can tell he is equally happy with you as you arer with him. Kisses should be on the bridge of your nose because on the mouth may transfer bacteria to him. I'm glad you rescued him. Keep us informed of the progress, there's nothing like a happy ending! ;D

I will remember Preston - he just decide he want to "plant" his kisses straight on the mouth.
What a joy he's been the last four days - the last time I felt this way was after my childs birth 9years ago!

Glad you're having such a great time with Gogo. We are passing through a similar experience, as we have just added Mina as a member of our family. She is not as confident as Gogo, but she was never used to staying with people, and this is only the 3rd week that we've had her in our home. The fact that she accepts our love without trying to bite us, even though she doesn't show us that we wants more) makes me very happy.
Enjoy this special time.
Regards
Cath

What a wonderful story! Well done on your determination in getting Gogo. It sounds like the two of you have really bonded and I hope things continue to go well for you.

Gogo's new and bigger cage arrives today...I'm going to allow him out tonight - after closing the bedroom doors first of course ;D
Any advice on how to move him to the new cage peacefully and not disrupting him too much? He's a quick one to climb out the moment one open the cage door, so there will be no problem in getting him out...it's the getting him into the new cage that worries me.

He will probably be wary of it to start with. Make a big fuss of the cage, show him it is an exciting place to be and put any favourite toys and treats inside. Even if he is scared of it at first, (he might not be) curiosity will get the better of him in the end.

You mention toys...I've noticed that he don't like "new" things and don't take to it immediately - even the calcium stick he avoids like it's the devil himself. What is seen as toys and what would be the best for me to put into the cage to get his attention. At the moment he's tremendously into food (maybe because of the past where he was left without food for up to 3days!) So I'll make him a nice fruitbowl and place that in the new cage?
And once again - thanks to you and Preston for all the advice and help, it's much appreciated! ;D

Yes, the fruit in the cage is a good idea to tempt him in. Greys being nervous of new toys, perches etc. is very typical but they usually come round in the end, even if they have been terrified of something to start with. Toys which can be chewed up are popular, beads and wooden blocks on leather thongs or rope, rolls of paper or pieces of card. Monty is currently having a lot of fun with some rubber ducks and a bowl of water. Also, baby and toddler toys.

Monty is currently having a lot of fun with some rubber ducks and a bowl of water. That sounds amazingly cute! Joshua used to play with water, but he hasn't for about four years now. I would love if he could begin to like it again. Please send Monty over here for a couple of days to show him how much fun it is!!! Lidia

Well it only happened recently. I tried putting large shallow dishes and bowls in for them over the years but they were ignored, although Monty has always washed toys in his drinking water. Then I found a transparent dog bowl reduced in M&S. It is very heavy and doesn't move around at all. It is totally transparent except for some bone shapes embedded in it! As soon as it was in, Monty was very interested and I have given him little rubber ducks which he sploshes about in it. He has great fun but Mitzi isn't interested at all.
