They pretty much are burried in other subjects, perhaps with the new ones you have added they will sort themselves out. I like it!

Hello All, Told you I'll be back did'nt I, After joey died I just had to get another Grey which I did last sunday and he is as I was told by the salesman at the sunday bird fair here in oporto that he is a 18 month old Tag. He was in a cage with 3 other growlers and he was the most lively one so that was the one I bought 225 euros or £157 for the UK readers was what he cost, I must admit I must prefered the way I got Joey by rescueing him from the sea off the coast of Africa. I now realise why they are also called growlers cos in the mornings no-one can aproach his cage without getting growled at, but now for example 2300 hrs he is so gentle you can nearly pick him up without a growl, so while he is in this comotose state thats when I start stroking him gently to gain his confidence, my daughters 11 and 16 are afraid of him. I'm sure in time w'ell get there, at the moment we can't help comparing him to the late joey and of course joey always wins, this one seems double the size of joey but only eats half the amount and he dos'nt eat any fruit whatsoever only monkey nuts and a bit of sunflower seed nothing else... i'll take a photo later.. all the best, Peter..

Hello again Peter I am glad to hear you have been able to take on another grey and am looking forward to seeing a photo. Persevere with the food, try as much variety of vegetables and fruit as possible. Offer him whatever you can by hand as well because this will help with the taming process. Warm soft food such as scrambled egg might be taken, especially if you hand feed them, also plain rice and pasta, and cooked beans. The pureed fruit and vegetable type of baby food is always useful to introduce new tastes as it might be taken more readily.

YES! Another one for the WIN column. Did you happen to look at Pete's Page to see Joey's Memorial? It's a place for him to live in our hearts. I'll remove the avitar so you can sign on with your member name, and replace it with a pic of your new lil' buddy.

Hallo All, Thanks Preston for the RIP regarding the late "Joey" and Hi Jane, well here's a photo of "Freddy" who I got 10 Days ago, He's a bit angry on this photo as you can see, he's giving a slight growl. As you can see by the photo I put a stick of sugar cane in the cage and in one day he completly demolished it. all the best, Peter

Hi Peter, That's a Congo not a Timneh. Nice looking bird! Go ahead and use your member log on.

Pleased to see the picture of Freddy. He is doing the fluffing which goes with the growl! I agree with Preston, he is a Congo not a Timneh.

I had a grey fly in my back yard last night. He seemed friendly so today I bought a cage and food and he went right in. So now I have this great new pet that I know nothing about other then its smart. Can anyone tell me a good room temperature for it? I guess I need to get educated quick. Any help would be appreciated.

What about his probably heartbroken owners? Could you try to find them before you assume he is yours, please?
If he is friendly, it indicates he is socialised. Please try to find out who he belongs to, if he were mine I would be devastated.

KNestor, Thanks for the rescue of a pet someone loves very much. Birds will usually remain within a mile of home for a week or so. I'm sure that anyone that would care for a run-away knows that they have something special. If you can't find the owner, and do not want to keep the bird; I live in Dallas and will come get it. I have 6 parrots already and will cover all of your expenses. If you decide to keep him, Welcome to being owned by an African Grey. ;D

....Welcome to being owned by an African Grey. ;D[/quote]
If you only know how true that words is!! They take over the whole household, even my elderly parents staying with me is taken aback by Gogo. Dad even build him a proper hook on my frontverandah - which get lovely sunlight and a view to kill on the other side of the road - so that he won't be in the sun totally and far away from the cats.
Can you believe that he is trying to play with my black cat, calling her to the cage and not playing angry at all with her. He's an amazing AG.
Then there's my mother - she believe birds must be free and not caged up...anyway, she changed her mind in 2days and have also fallen for Gogo. Yesterday she phoned me, histerical with laughter - you should have heard what it sounded like at home! The moment mom would start laughing, Gogo would set off in a deep hahahaaa mode.
My daughter of 9 is still bit weary of him, but he allows her to tough his head to be loved.
;D Yes, I'm proudly owned by an African Grey!!

Gogo, Yes, it's definitely fun to be owned by a grey! KNestor, I'm glad you're looking for the 'owners' of your visiting grey, and I hope that they are happily reunited with your new friend or, if they're not, that your new pal settles in well. You're definitely in the right place to learn about how to look after him/her. Lidia
