I need to travel from Virginia to Texas for spring break, and I'm not going unless Jenga can come along, but NOT in cargo. Have any of you guys ever travelled by a bus or a train with your bird? I can't exactly afford going by plane. I need suggestions and info asap! Anyone???

Sorry, I have never traveled with Congo. You would have to call the Bus or Train company and see what their policy is on traveling with animals. They may have a limit on size of travel carrier. They soft ones made for small cats and dogs work well, you can make a wire mesh floor for the bottom to help keep the carrier clean.

I'm at a loss at that one on that one too. Where are you going in Texas? Perhaps I can make some calls for you. If it is Dallas I'll call Greyhound. I would think they wouls allow a small pet carrier.

Holy $#*@, Preston! Very nice! Yeah, I think I just fell in love with you. Gosh, and I thought I was hot-stuff. You've got a lot of bragging room, man. What year is your's again? I'll try to post some pics of mine later. Maybe we could race sometime..
It's been awhile, so I'll summarize this stuff: I'm going to San Antonio, and in July/August (depending on the weaning of my new baby macaw) I'll be moving there permanently. My boyfriend's mom is opening a bird store and I get to run/co-own it! Might sound cheesy, but hey, I spend a few hours a day in one as a customer already, so why not?
And it turns out, we're jut going to drive to Texas. 24 hours there and 24 hours back. I'll be saving $350 and plus I love road trips anyway. Jenga loves car rides, too! I usually get a nip when I ask him to step-up when we arrive somewhere and he usually chats the whole way. (5 & 1/2 months old and he says "Hello", "Why you gotta be like that?", many whistles like 'Ed, Edd, Eddy' theme, and conure & lovebird impressions!!)
Sorry I wrote so much, I don't have many opportunities to keep in touch. Thanks, you guys, for your care!

I'ts an 04; the one I gave my wife for her Birthday and Christmas as they are so close together. She gave it back to me because she couldn't afford the insurance. Race? One thing I learned with age; 195Mph down the interstate wrapped in aluminium and fiberglass takes guts I seemed to have missplaced. Now 25 years ago, I'd be all in.

You live in Texas and you don't have a pickup truck ? When we moved to Sun City West (a retirement community : , a family friend told us we had to get rid of our pickup (Chevy S-10) because nobody here drives a pickup. He even tried to scare us into getting rid of it by saying we would have a bunch of old people pestering us to haul stuff for them all the time. We didn't get rid of it because 1) A pickup is extremely useful to have, and 2) It's my vehicle of choice. Turns out, our friend lied. I'd say at least 50% of the people here have pick-ups, and some even have great big duelies. It always bothered him that we kept it, although I haven't the foggiest idea why. He passed away last summer, and the people that bought his house have a pickup that they *gasp* park in the driveway. He's probably rolling in his grave .

Thats so funny SH, maybe he thought it would bring the property value down to see a bunch of trucks in the neighborhood.

Maybe so John . People around here are very concerned about property values. They complain about people who leave their garage doors open, who park vehicles in their driveway and street, and any number of other silly things . But on the bright side, this city is a very clean/tidy/well-groomed place to live, which is kind of nice. I also have a couple other theories. Jack grew up very poor and on a farm, but did well for himself as an adult. Perhaps pick-ups reminded him of lean times. My second theory is that his wife was very...um...well, snobbish isn't quite the right word...maybe "proper" is better. She was very influencial over Jack. She was less than fond of Jack's "common" family, and hated visiting his hometown. I don't know it for a fact, but I bet she wouldn't have been caught dead in a pickup.

SH, I like trucks, especially the way the new ones look inside, but it is hard to visit prejects with clients (older gentlemen) in a pick-up. If you remember the story, I wasn't out bird shopping that day, or I would have traded off for my neighbor's truck. I played "Concrete Cowboy" in college, then the "chick magnet" Corvettes until I was given a car allowance, and told to get something nice to entertain Architech's and owners with.
