I know there have been threads with this issue in the past, but I am now really considering getting one for not just my health but my two fids. Since I put in my new dark flooring I really, really see just how much dander there is accumulated within just minutes !!! On the furniture, in the air, and yes I do cough but never been an issue and don't want it to be. Any way, I was surprised how many purifiers are out there that say they are quiet and good for birds. Rabbit Air was one and Orani ( spelling ) ? I am confused, Anyone have any of these. If it is too noisey I probably won't use it as much and I worry it will be disturbing to the birds, so I do want quiet. I see where safety is an issue if there is ozone-not recommended. Tell me what you have. I know the dust is also disturbing to the birds and their health is important. Thank you'all. Susan

I have a honeywell hepa filter. It is the round kind. It is pretty loud, but I don't notice it anymore. I actually have two of them and run them all the time. It really helps with the dust.

You use this purifier and Beaker still gets that dusty with an air bath ? Is it really working ? Just kidding. I have had Sid since he was 8 months old, over 10 years and he is getting dustier. Of course in our other house before my divorce he was outside more often, that probably helped more than I thought. Anyway, how ofter do you change out the filter , of course they are all expensive and tell me about the noise level please.

I have a built in HEPA filter in my condo.
I give Beaks an air bath so I don't have to have a big filter (yet).
I think outside flying around sheds some of the dust, but they are the dustiest of the them all.
I do not own one, but I am always researching what is available.

I have had a Heaven Fresh XJ 3800 air purifier for nine years. It has an ionizer (with relatively no ozone) a HEPA filter, an activated carbon filter, a photocatalytic oxidation filter, a germicidal UV lamp, a dust collection grid and a washable pre-filter. It collects a lot of dust. It has 4 levels of flow to choose from (quiet, low, medium and high) It doesn't disturb them. I have it on all day and off at night.

Thank you all for your input, It is so hard to chose. After much research, and some companies very reluctant to respond to my messages phone or email that makes the decision easier, they are eliminated.I made the decision and ordered one from Rabbit Air. A little costly, but a lot of things taken into consideration. Only want to do this once, and they all offer a 90 day.

update, I had decided on the Rabbit Air Minus A2 ultra Quiet Air Purifer APA 700A. It arrived on Monday and started using immediately, did need to read directions closely to put the multiple filters in correctly, but if I can do it anyone can. Today is Saturday and I am seeing quite a difference. I was worried not just for myself but for the birds respiratory system. Am happy with my decision if any one is interested in getting one.

Hi there:) We're considering getting an air purifier, I know we shouldn't use an ionic one but what if it has an adjustable ionic setting? I.e. the ionic can be turned off. I have found a lot of purifiers that have good reviews have a setting control for ionic but very few just don't have it at all. Any recommendations highly appreciated.

Hello ashsummer and welcome to the forum.
The one I mentioned in this thread, the Heaven Fresh XJ-3800, has an ionizer. The negative ion output is 2 x 10 to the power 6 per cubic centimetre. I have never had any problems with it. It is right next to their cage.
