Allison,
She starts yelling very loud! It's kind of like a long and loud squawk that she does over and over. When you here it, you know she's mad. She'll do it a few times intil she realizes she isn't going to win, then she stops and lets go of the forbidden object. SHe's so smart!!! ;D

I wonder if it sounds like the nose Toku makes when I "tickle" him on his tummy and underneath his wings.. kind of an annoyed kind of squak.. but not really loud however..

My Josey does not like me to touch her on her tummy either, and I am working on getting her to lay on her back, she does not want to. My sun conure will lay on her back in my hand and I show that to Josey but no luck so far.

Toku will allow me to lay him on his back. At first he would NOT have it. But then he realized that he gets positive praise, "Oh my handsome good boy!!!" when he does it. I first started by hanging onto him by the talons. He just "hangs out". Then when he was getting more comfortable, I started touching his back when I did it.. Eventually he would let me hold him on his back but he wouldn't let go of my fingers. Now he will let go if I tell him too. He'll do it about 90% of the time. The other 10% I get a nip if he's annoyed. But that's pretty good considering when I started training him he would use his beak to scratch my hand up pretty good!! Ouch that hurt!

It took quite a while to get grissom to lay on his back as well. I thought that he never would, if I even attempted he would squak and bite like mad. I figured that I would leave it alone for a while, assuming it was a trust issue. Soon after though he started doing it on his own, he wont let go of my fingers though. An attempt to get him to let go with result in a very annoyed nip. He's definately more trusting now though, he will swing from one foot off my hand to get things or to play.

Adorable pictures. Concerning the whole back thing, we had no say whatsoever with Auggie and being on his back, he just started doing it. He's still under a year old (I year next month) and he flips whenever he darn well feels like it lol

Cesar allows me to put him on his back. He needs to be petted otherwise he will lose interest and get up.. If I pet him he will close his eyes and just lay there.

When we say, "count for me", Max will say, "count" then count up to five. It took him a week of mixing up the order before he got it straight. While you are teaching the kindergarten children, Toku will be learning his numbers and colours, etc. too.

they are amazing birds, so inteligent. smoke loves his belly being tickled, but not his head, where as taz (my cockatiel) loves his head being tickled but not his belly, its annoying cos id love to tickle tazs belly and smokeys head. how do you teach them to lay on their back?

I'd like my Josey to lay on her back but she resists. I think some greys like to do it and some don't and I may have one that won't.
