Just wanted to share this with everyone.... There's a Bird Store I frequent in my area and their mascot is a Hyacinth Macaw. Anyways, he was in his cage today eating and I asked him, "what are you eating?" He replied, "I dont' know". He's only about a year old. I thought that was so funny!!! He knew exactly what I was asking.

That is so cool, I have never seen one in the feather. I would love to see one. The bird store I go to says they will have one in the future as a mascot.

The Breeder I got matty from breeds Hyacinths also. I had him show me one. He has 6 breeder pairs and was buyin 10 more pairs from a breeder goin OOB. He said they were gonna be his retirement. 16 pair of them. If they all make 1 baby a year, at $10k each thats not a bad year. Its amazing that he responded to you like that. My breeder said they dont talk much at all and arent very intelligent. They are beautiful though.

i live very close to Kaytee and i have alot of family and friends that work there. They have a hyacinth that i have had the privilidge of interacting with and from what i know he is very inteligent but like many birds doesnt talk in front of strangers. i have never heard anyone say they weren't inteligent before.

They are one of the most beautiful birds there is! I had the priviledge to attend a freeflight birdshow and I can't describe the feeling that came over me when this Hyacinth flew out of his cage. It was so beautiful. As far as I know they are the biggest of all the Macaws. I would so like to have a breeding pair of them, but I am not that expierenced yet. Maybe one day.....

That was pretty cool video!! The one guy, Jack, I think his name is? Too funny, "do they fly"? What a goof ball!! Ofcourse they fly, they're Birds!! I found that amusing. I have never heard of Macaws being dumb either, the Hyacinth that I know is very smart and sneaky!! If you stand too close to him, he'll hop right on your arm or shoulder and doesn't want to get off. He'll also lift up his left wing if you're by him so you can scratch him. I don't see how that's being "dumb".

I have seen a Hyacinth Macaw in a bird park, only the one. It was regurgitating to a Blue and Gold Macaw! It was certainly a beautiful bird.
