so far stevie is great with both hubby and i. he will show affection to us both, by regurgitating and giving "kisses". BUT it seems he does it more readily with hubby and more often. although sometimes it seems to be the other way around. what are the odds that he continues this behavior? or is it more likely that he will end up picking the "favorite" and the other one of us wil be "sol". ?? our quakers have there definate "favorite" and are usually only loving to the other one of us when there favorite is away from the house. i am wondering if stevie will end up the same. we both interact with stevie about the same amount. although i probably do a little bit more, and i am the one who cares for all the food dishes and cleaning etc..... (ya, hubby has it good!) just curiouse what your experience has been with your greys on any similar issue??

Cute picture. What are quakers like? Our Cag is about 6 months, he doesn't do that with me or my son.

quakers are awesome. i feel they are the most underestimated parrot. because of there size, people dont realize how smart, and full of personality they are. they are complete snuggle butts, little demons, and all around attitude. they can easily become a one person bird though, unless solialized regularly with other people.. which can be difficult because they can often be nippy. they are considered the #5 best talker out of all parrot species. but i am a bit partial, after all i have 3...

Jane - I think we have this original question answered in a recent thread...can you post the link if you know where it is? Steviesmom - My fiance moved in 5 months ago and BoBo is only now not trying to bite his fingers off or peck his eyes out. I am BoBo's beloved and that makes Sean a homewrecker in his eyes ...they're woking on their own kind of relationship now and things are going well. I made Sean the primary treat giver, the food giver (not the pellets...the good people stuff!) and the rescuer (BoBo flies when startled and often need 'saving' from wherever he ends up). It also helped that Sean was able to recognize that he would never have the opportunity to play with BoBo like he plays with me...but they play their own kind of games. Oh, Sean is also the first to say hello when we get home from work and I let them have their 5 min. scritch session without me in sight.

i have read both of those threads and didnt feel they really applied to or answered my particular question. but i am assuming by the comments made so far that no one here seems to have a grey bonded to more than one person in the house.. that they eventually pick a favorite.

No he might not pick a favourite. Monty has always been friendly with everyone and doesn't mind visitors or strangers whereas Mitzi is more of a one person bird and is strongly bonded to me. She also much prefers women. They both only regurgitate for me though.

hard for me to say 'cause i was the favorite first!
I guess you can look at it this way...children develop different bonds with different parents. What you got from your dad was different than the things your mom offered and you were "bonded" to both of them but the bonds looked different depending on what aspect you were focusing on.

well i am hoping thats the case... cause its really fun having him love both of us like this. all the quakers have a favorite.. so this is a new experience. i would be really bummed if he suddenly decided that daddy was the favorite.. and he stopped giving me the kisses too. .. isnt that silly, here i am worrying that my grey will STOP regurgitating for me... by all rights any "non bird" person would be discusted by the fact that i consider it a compliment to be offered "throw up".....

I couldn't tell you who Nikko's favorite is. I'm his primary caregiver, but he also likes my mom and dad. I suspect though, that if I Nikko were forced to choose between us, he would choose my mom. Just a feeling I have. I think every animal we have ever had has favored my mom.
Luckily, my mom likes Nikko as well. When I got him, I was afraid she wouldn't pay him much attention. She even helps me out a bit in taking care of him, which I totally didn't expect.

Forgot to mention that Nikko is 4, and I've had him for a little over 3 months. I think if he was going to choose a favorite, he probably would have done so by now. Also, we had company last week, and Nikko wasn't bothered by 2 strange people being in the house. He quietly sat on his playgym (he's usually quiet when there's people in the room with him), and even let the man hold him for a little while. Nikko's previous owner's letter to me said he was very bonded to her, and she was afraid he would have a difficult time adjusting to a new home. But Nikko just likes attention, and I don't think he really cares who's giving it. Fickle bird .
